EPA re-stated the ratings of every 1984–2007 vehicle, and some 2011–2016 ones, onto the current test method so that years compare. The newest model year fills in through the autumn; the file is read again on the 20th of each month.
What these pages do that the window sticker does not
The rating is EPA's and is printed as EPA publishes it, with EPA's own annual fuel cost beside it. What this site adds is the division: that rating at the price you actually pay and the miles you actually drive, with the formula shown, so the figure on the sticker becomes a cost you can compare with another car, a commute or a lease. A rating is a laboratory figure; most drivers land below it, and the True MPG Calculator measures the gap.
