Overview

MileGrade (www.milegrade.com) is committed to being transparent about how the site works and what data it collects. This policy covers what we collect, how it's used, the cookies involved, and your choices.

What we collect

Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are visited, how long sessions last, and how people navigate. These services collect usage data such as an anonymized IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and pages visited. Google Analytics sets cookies (for example _ga and _ga_*) and uses similar technologies. We have configured Google's Consent Mode v2 so that, in regions where consent is required, analytics and advertising storage default to a denied state until you grant consent (see "EEA, UK and Switzerland visitors" below).

What you type into the calculators

Nothing. Every calculator on MileGrade runs entirely in your browser. The fuel prices, electricity rates, mileage, loan terms and vehicle figures you enter are never transmitted to us, never written to a server, and never stored — they exist only on your own device while the page is open, and they are gone when you close the tab.

There are no accounts, no sign-up, no logins, and no email capture. We do not build profiles of visitors and we do not sell, rent, or share personal data, because we do not collect any beyond the aggregate usage analytics described above. If a future feature ever required storing something you enter, this policy would say so before that feature shipped.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by your browser. MileGrade uses the following categories of cookies:

Essential cookies — required for the site to function and to remember your cookie choice. These do not track you and are always active.
Analytics cookies — set by Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics 4 to measure site usage. In regions where consent is required, these are not set until you accept them.
Advertising cookies — none are set at present. MileGrade does not currently serve ads (see "Advertising" below).

Advertising

MileGrade does not currently serve advertising, and no advertising cookies are set on your device by this site. We intend to support the site with ads in future. If and when that happens, this policy will be updated before any ad is served to name the ad network, describe the cookies it sets, and explain how to opt out — and visitors in the regions covered below will be asked for consent through a Google-certified consent platform first.

For reference, should that change: third-party vendors including Google use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to a site.

Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Additional opt-out options are available at aboutads.info.

EEA, UK and Switzerland visitors

Where required by applicable law — including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and Swiss data protection law — your consent is obtained before non-essential cookies (analytics and, where applicable, advertising cookies) are set on your device. We implement Google's Consent Mode v2, which defaults analytics and advertising storage to a denied state for these regions until you choose to accept. Consent is currently collected through this site's own cookie banner, which covers the analytics described above — the only non-essential cookies in use today.

Because MileGrade serves no advertising at present, no IAB Transparency and Consent Framework signal is required or transmitted. Should this site begin serving personalized ads to visitors in these regions, it will first adopt a Google-certified Consent Management Platform integrated with that framework, as Google requires — the first-party banner is not certified for that purpose and will be retired at that point rather than left to stand in for one.

MileGrade may link to external sources for citations or reference. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those external sites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the site evolves. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
