What a mile costs at this rate

Price divided by miles per kilowatt-hour, EPA's figure measured at the wall so charging losses are already in it. Most EVs rate between 3 and 4 mi/kWh.

What this figure is, and is not

Utilities report residential revenue and kilowatt-hours sold to EIA every month; the figure is the state's total revenue divided by its total sales. That makes it an all-in average of what households were billed per kWh, with delivery and fixed charges spread across the energy, and summer months run higher where air conditioning pushes bills into higher tiers. It is not the energy rate on a tariff sheet, and it is not your utility's rate unless your utility is the only one in the state.

Use it as a starting point with its month attached. The delivered rate on your own bill is what every calculator on this site asks for, and it overrides this figure the moment you type it. See every state.
